WELCOME TO THE FAMILY LITTLE ONE!

Updated: Aug 6, 2018

Welcoming a new baby or child into the family is one of the greatest celebrations life can bring! I remember when my two sons were born I wanted to shout to the world and was absolutely besotted(and still am all these years later!!) from the minute they were placed in my arms. Then it came to the Christening and the serious religious vows we were making as parents and asking our friends to make as well to love and protect our little ones. A big ask then and today...

So in a growing secular society- many parents are turning to Naming Ceremonies or Welcome Ceremonies...

The great thing about a Naming Ceremony is they can be held where ever you choose- at home, in the park, the garden, a village hall, the Pub...or even the zoo…

The focus is on the personality of the child or children...

A typical ceremony might include music, readings or poems. Parents and Grandparents can get actively involved by making their own special promises or vows to the child. The parents can choose special supporting adults to guide their young one ...and they too can make special promises -perhaps even written by themselves. There’s no set script for a Naming Ceremony – it’s too personal an occasion for that. Instead, every naming is tailored to meet the particular family’s requirements...

I love symbolism in ceremonies and have seen some beautiful ideas to include in this very special celebration. Candles, a wishes book, planting a tree or what about a bubble wish ...where bubble are blown into the air after promises are made? There are so many lovely ways to mark this event.
