Sand Ceremony? The Coastal Celebrant Should Know How!!

Second blog and still on those alternatives for your ceremony! As it's the Summer solstice my mind is turning to sun...sea and SAND!! This piece is all about THE SAND CEREMONY

I really wish I had known about these beautiful moments you can incorporate into your wedding or naming ceremony when I married... The visual symbol sometimes says more that a thousand words...

So Sand Ceremony? What is this?? Well-as the Coastal Celebrant let me assure you I wont be digging up Bridlington beach and bringing it with me to scatter all over your beautiful venue!!

No...a Sand Ceremony is designed to show a couples unity.

It involves both partners pouring sand into a single container symbolising a life long commitment and the joining of their two lives. Sometimes parents and children can be included to show their unity as part of the family as well.

To make it your own, consider the colour of the sand, where it came from

and the vessel that you choose to pour it into. It could be a monogrammed decanter or a special ceremony frame that has your wedding date on it. Check out Ebay for some beautiful sets-though I can always source them for you...

Ceremony words are important though and I have some ideas on my Pinterest boards...

Check these out..

"These two separate vases of sand symbolise your separate lives before you found each other. They symbolize your separate friends, family, and choices. Today, both of you will seal your bond by blending these two individual vases together. Once the sand is blended together, it cannot be separated."

I really love that sentiment...

Until next time then...
